Jimmy and the girls found this "little cutie" (as quoted by Leah) in Gramma's yard. They wanted to rescue it from Gramma's impending "chop-chop" (also known as a garden hoe for those unfamiliar with that particular weapon). They clearly did not inherit their love of all things scaly from their mother!
